Intersect – a collaboration with The Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia

October 14th, 2015 § 2 comments

Hello Folks!

I’m extremely excited to let you all know about a new endeavor I’ve begun in collaboration with The Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia.  It’s called “Intersect” and is a series of three concerts I’m curating throughout the Orchestra’s 2015-2016 season.

Each Intersect concert will showcase the phenomenal artistry of musicians from the Chamber Orchestra in innovative, collaborative performances with other stellar musicians from throughout Philadelphia’s diverse music scene.

Our inaugural Intersect concert is Wednesday November 4th, 7pm upstairs at The World Cafe Live and will feature myself and four phenomenal musicians from the Philadelphia region celebrating the unfathomable influence of the great Ludwig Van Beethoven in ways unique to their individual backgrounds and musical styles.

Guests for the first Intersect concert will be:

Associate concertmaster of the Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia Meichen Liao-Barnes

Acclaimed singer and songwriter Chris Kasper

Champion of new instrumental concert music harpist Elizabeth Huston

R&B, soul, and Jazz pianist Anam Owili-Eger

You can find out more information about the nature of this unique collaboration at the Chamber Orchestra’s Website here

And tickets are only $10!! You can purchase advance tickets here

There will be two more Intersect concerts this season – 2/24 & 5/11 – and I’ll be sure to give you details on those closer to the dates

I hope you’ll join us on this exciting new journey!!

I want to learn more about these events for the winter and spring 2016. I currently subscribed to the Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia.

Hey Marilyn! The February 24th Intersect show is called “Rock ‘n Roll and the string quartet” and we’re going to be exploring the history of the string quartet and ways in which it has become integral in many styles of popular music, as well as looking at the roots of minimalism and it’s connection to rock ‘n roll and other popular styles. I’ll be performing with a string quartet made up of members from the chamber orchestra. I’m still working on May 11th…but most likely it will be myself, clarinet, violin, jazz bass, and most drum set and we’ll explore folk music’s influence on classical music and other styles. Feel free to reach out using the contact form if you’d like further information via email.
