My apologies for being out of touch these last few weeks or months or however long it’s been…things have been quite exciting at the Lipke manor and I’ve been busy with all kinds of fun things. First and foremost my second daughter Scarlett was born May 15th and she is just the cutest thing on earth…happy, healthy, and growing more aware everyday!
Secondly, I had the pleasure of performing four original compositions with the Mid Atlantic Symphony orchestra two weeks ago and it was an amazing experience to hear my orchestrations brought to life by such fine musicians. I hope there is more of this sort of collaboration in my future!
I also had the pleasure of performing Steve Hackman’s Brahms/Radiohead symphonic mash-up with the North Carolina Symphony a little less than a month ago and will be singing this very interesting work again with the Colorado Music Festival Orchestra next week.
Also The Azrael Quartet and I will be performing a free show in City Hall here in Philadelphia on the evening of July 10th, and I’ll be opening for the legendary Leon Russell at the World Cafe Live in Delaware July 16th.
and finally, I’m happy to report that I’m am seeing the end of my next record in the not too distant future…I think – assuming I don’t have anymore children between now and then – I’ll have it completed for a fall release. I’m getting really excited about this new music…it’s unlike anything I’ve done before.
You can find out details on all these shows at the shows page of my website and if you’re around tomorrow night, come see the fantastic violinist Rebecca Harris and I at Yard’s Brewery where we’ll open up for the wonderful new Philly band Swedeland who are celebrating the release of a record they recorded in my studio The Record Lounge.
Oh, and speaking of The Record Lounge…I’ve been very busy working with some great artists from the region. In addition to Marc Silver’s new album A Miner’s Town and Swedeland’s Lit It On Fire, look for new music by Soldier On, Irene Molloy, Purples, and Trisha O’Keefe – among others – this year…all recorded, produced, and/or mixed here at The Record Lounge.
OK…back to the daipers!
